Almost everyone wants power.  Every day we see powerful engines move cars, trucks, trains, and large buses.  Powerful motors that man can free himself from gravity and go to the moon have been built.

Two large locomotive engines can pull numerous box cars loaded with goods.  Powerful engines have been designed that men can fly through the air.

Bombs have been invented that can wipe cities, and even countries, off the map.  Power generated by electric motors and turbines can light every home in the country.

Yet, if you place every motor, every engine, every turbine, every power that you can name, and put all that has been or will be built at one time, none can compare to the power that wants to come dwell in your mortal body.  The Holy Ghost of God is His Name.

Some would say, "Yes, I know He's strong, but you are talking about a different kind of power."  The power that I am telling you about is the same power that was present at creation.  The Word says:

Genesis 1: 2

(2)  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.  And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

He was there in the beginning when God made every mineral, every chemical, and every substance that man has used, to create his inventions over time.

God's power was there when man was created.  God breathed into man and he became a living soul.  The Power that created man in the beginning is the same power Jesus wants to give us today.

Down through the years there have been people who have had power such as kings, presidents, doctors, lawyers, etc. Men have constantly wanted to have power.

Man spends large amounts of money on self-improvement courses, such as positive thinking, in order to overcome the complexities of life, and to have peace of mind.  But peace of mind is not all they want, that also want to acquire power.

People go to school for a number of years to train for a profession so that they might qualify for a certain position to have power.  The world seeks after power, and is usually going to have it at any cost or sacrifice, in order to acquire it.

Men will save, do with out, and give up many things just so they can pile money up in the bank. To men, this is power.

Of all the things we have talked about there is still a greater power available to the Christian who will receive it.  This is a power that will automatically give them boldness that they have never dreamed possible.

Take the case of the disciples who were locked in a room afraid of the Jews.  A few days later, when they were filled, they pointed their fingers in these same Jew's faces, and told them that they received this power when they were baptized in the Holy Ghost.

Acts 1: 8

(8)  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:  and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

I want you to notice that He said shall receive power.  He did not say might or maybe, He said there would be power given.  The word "power," in the Greek, is where we get the word dynamite.

The average man who knows about dynamite will tell you to run for cover when he sees it about to go off.  There is going to be an explosion.  He knows dynamite is a force that will remove mountains.

You let a person who knows about the Holy Ghost, and sees the Holy Ghost being received, he will tell you right quick, there is going to be an explosion.

Why?  Because there is a force, a power, a love, that comes in a man's life that brings revival to a dry world.

Some would say they know dynamite will move mountains and do many different things, and people fear it, but speaking about the Spirit moving things is not the same.  The Bible says that even mountains and trees can be moved.

There is also a fear of the Lord.  Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  But He will not only move earthen mountains, but mountains of sin and disease.

He will make you a mighty witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ so that a multitude can be saved from hell through your witness.

Not only with this great, powerful person who comes to live within you does strength come, but anointed, creative gifts are given so  the literal promise of Jesus might be fulfilled.  He said His people would do His creative works.

John 14: 12

(12)  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my father.

These gifts that are bestowed through the Holy Spirit are not natural talents.  When people are born with talents others say they are gifted.

We are speaking about supernatural gifts of the Spirit, something you have never been able to do before, and something you cannot do in your own power.

Some of these gifts are the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, the gifts of healing, the working of miracles; prophesy; discerning of spirits, and divers (different) kinds of tongues.

These are a powerful force that can and will operate in a Christian's life apart from his own power, and under the anointed, supernatural operation of God's Spirit.  This power is offered to you.
